Eric Clapton Guitar Legend

Eric Clapton is an acclaimed musical artist, nicknamed “Slowhand” and known for his superb guitar playing ability. Originally from Ripley, Surrey, England, Clapton was born on March 30, 1945. His musical genres include blues, rock, psychedelic rock, and blues rock. Clapton is regarded by many as on e of the greatest and most influential guitarists. Aside from winning Grammy Awards, Eric Clapton has three inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Clapton started off by joining the rock and roll band The Yardbirds in 1963, but left in 1965 as the band had more of a pop orientation than he would have liked, remaining dedicated to the blues. Eric then joined John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, who would help Clapton establish himself as one of the worlds best blues guitarists. Clapton left however quickly left Bluesbreakers as well, forming the band Cream in 1966. During his time with Cream was when he began to develop as a singer and songwriter along with is already notable guitar skills. Cream would break up two years later however in 1968.

Eric Clapton either played with and/or started a number of other successful groups before taking a career break because of personal issues in the 1970’s and has sporadically released solo albums since then. Some of his solo albums include: There’s One in Every Crowd, Another Ticket, Reptile, Sessions for Robert J, and Back Home.

The Life And Times Of John Lennon

Lennon’s songwriting was an integral part of The Beatles’ profound commercial and critical impact. His melodies, written during the Lennon-McCartney era, and later, in his solo career, are distinctive and unashamedly romantic.

Lennon’s lyrics reflected his personal and career demands, philosophical outlook, his unease with his fame and current events. He and McCartney popularized the use of electronic effects in rock music.

Lennon, on television and in films such as A Hard Day’s Night (1964), and by press conferences and interviews, revealed his rebellious, iconoclastic nature and quick, irreverent wit. Lennon channeled his fame and penchant for controversy into his work as a peace activist, artist and author. He was murdered in New York City in December 1980.

In 2002, the BBC polled the British public about the 100 Greatest Britons of all time. Respondents voted Lennon into eighth place.

Lennon had a profound influence on rock ‘n’ roll and in expanding the genre’s boundaries during the 1960s. He is widely considered, along with McCartney, to be one of the most influential singer-songwriter-musicians of the 20th century.

Many of the songs written exclusively or primarily by Lennon, however, are more introspective

Parents Of Child Actors Register A Domain Name Fast

Your loss is their gain.

I recommend registering your child’s domain name as soon as your child a) works as a principal character in a TV show or film (has a credit on screen) or b) signs with an agent or manager. The reason for doing this as soon as possible is obvious: there are people out there who register domains of newcomers at the earliest opportunity. If you think to yourself “but my kid isn’t famous yet” you are kidding yourself. There is a segment of the population that will immediately notice a new girl or boy on a TV show and immediately start posting their name around the Internet for other people to see.

So what is a domain name and how do you register one?

A domain name is the “internet address” you use to find a particular web site. The domain name for the web site you are on now is “kidsinthebiz.com.” A popular domain name for a search engine is “google.com.” Most actors will register their domain name as “firstnamelastname.com.” There are also domain names that end in .us, .tv, .net, .org and hundreds more. Concentrate on the .com extension. Can you register a domain name if you don’t even have a web site? YES! In fact, many parents will simply register their child’s domain name and “park” it – not use it, just so somebody else can’t take it. They may or may not ever make a web site, but they know that somebody else can’t pretend to be their child with the domain name either.

One of the best places to register a domain name is a place called Go Daddy. It’s a funny name but one of the best. GoDaddy.com is known as a domain name registrar, a place to register domain names. Once you are at their site, type your child’s name (wthout spaces) into the “Start Your Search Here” box and click on “Go.” If the domain hasn’t been taken yet, click on Continue. You will be asked to buy a whole bunch of stuff you really don’t need so click on “No Thanks” to continue. You will then be asked to buy even more things, so just click on Continue again. You may have some things auto-selected for you like “Traffic Builder” – uncheck it and click on Continue again.

Eventually you will get to a checkout page that will have you double-check everything to make sure it is correct, as well as choose a payment method. If there is anything else in your cart besides the domain name, remove it! For 2 years it should only cost you about $18.40.

You can choose to pay by PayPal or by Credit Card. Select which one and then also put check marks into the boxes saying you have read the agreement and terms of service. (I suggest actually reading them too, although they are pretty standard) – then click on Checkout Now.

The next section will require you to put in personal information. IMPORTANT – this information will be public, and once it is out there, people CAN bring it uyp again even if you change it. For the telephone number I would suggest your agent or managers number, NOT your private home phone number. Cell phone is also fine if you don’t mind – but you will probably get calls on it. For address, again put your agent or manager’s address, or a post office box if you have one. If you put your real home address, remember this will be available for everybody to see.

Continue the checkout process. Once everything is done, that is it. Your domain is now officially “parked” and will be on the Internet in 4-24 hours. When people call up the domain name in their web browser, they will see godaddy’s “parked” page. If you ever build a web site for your child, or have someone build it for you, you will need to modify the settings in the GoDaddy control panel. Your web designer / web host should be able to help you with that.

Securing your child’s domain name early means it won’t be stolen later. Use your own judgment for when you feel it is the right time. Remember, if the .com is taken, you can try one of the other extensions, but even today, nothing is as good as a .com.

Mallika Sherawat Marriage Failure Career Successful

Mallika Sherawat hails from Rohtak, India. She was an air-hostess initially. Many people do not know that she was married to a pilot but the marriage did not work out and they separated. Mallika Sherawat then tried her hand in show business and she achieved overnight success with her film Murder. Her success is mainly attributed to her bold scenes which are not usually seen in Indian movies. After some of her initial movies most of the films have proven to be below average. Even her much talked about film ‘Myth’ with Jacky Chan has fallen flat. If Mallika has to stay in the film industry she will have to give quality to cinema.

For Mallika Sherawat success and money comes easy which will be a dream for many people. This is probably the reason why her parents who were against her defiant attitude regarding her show of skin, later reconciled with her and are reportedly living with her.

Mallika Sherawat’s success has initiated a new era in Indian film industry. Actors who used to shy from showing their skin have now shed their hesitation and now competing with Mallika Sherawat. Celina Jaitly, Neha Dhupia, Esha Deol and many more like them are examples of such actors who have adopted the formula of Mallika Sherawat to make it to the top in Bollywood.

Many people feel that Mallika Sherawat is arrogant and egotist. She loves to talk about herself and her success. According to her, half the Indian population is mad about her. During an interview, she even challenged a senior news anchor of a reputed news channel that he likes her. Mallika probably has a very physical perspective of the people in general and that is how she has learned to exploit the desires of sexually deprived Indian men.

Mallika Sherawat has made name and money very easily… (relatively) just with her hot looks. Not everybody is gifted with such an attractive body. Quick success is something which is difficult to achieve and even more difficult to maintain. Let’s see in future how she manages to continue to be a successful star of Bollywood.

Sir Elton Hercules John

Sir Elton Hercules John was educated in the Royal Academy, thanks to a scholarship that obtained in this institution at the age of 11 years that left six years later to dedicate itself to pop music. As of 1964 it began to collaborate with local groups like Bluesology, where John Baldry knew the singer. As tribute to him and the saxofonista Elton Dean adopted the stage name of Elton John

In the Sixties it participated in several groups, but without too much success. Until in 1967 it knew the letrista and poet Bernie Taupin. Together they achieved its first great success in 1970 with the album “Elton John” by the song “Your Song”. In 1971 four albums between the ten first of the lists of the United States were placed simultaneously, something that did not happen from the Beatles. Also in that same Elton year it began to develop a galloping alopecia that would later lead years to him to the wig use.

The Seventies were the one of its consecration as authentic star, began to act adorned with outlandish disguises and other usandolos adornments characteristic of glam rock in multitudinal concerts. At that time it was great successful like Crocodile Rock (1972), Candle In The Wind (1973) Bennie And The Jets (1973) and Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me (1974). Between 1972 and 1975, seven of their discs entered the first positions of the lists of British sales.

In 1975 it participated in the Tommy film, directed by Ken Russell and written by Pete Townshend, guitarist of The Who. By that time I scandalize to the public opinion with certain declarations on its homosexualidad.

When entering the decade of 1980, left of side temporarily its relation with Taupin in addition to that moderated its image and its music, doing it more mel

The Secret To Becoming A Star

A Star is Made: Where does talent really come from?

Reviewing a new 900 page academic book The Cambridge Handbook of Expertise and Expert Performance that will be published this month, Freakonomics authors report some very interesting findings.

(I highly recommend you read this piece if you have an interest in finding out how a star is made in any discipline.)

Here are three conclusions from this massive work:

1. The trait we call talent is highly overrated.

That is, expert performers – whether in memory or surgery, ballet or computer programming – are nearly always made, not born. And yes,

2. Practice does make perfect. And last, my personal favorite:

3. When it comes to choosing a life path, you should do what you love – because if you don’t love it, you are unlikely to work hard enough to get very good.

They add, “Most people naturally don’t like to do things they aren’t ‘good’ at. So they often give up, telling themselves they simply don’t possess the talent for math or skiing or the violin.”

But the truth is this:

“What they really lack is the desire to be good and to undertake the deliberate practice that would make them better.

Joseph Campbell was right when he told his students, “Follow your bliss.”

And yes, especially in your work. If you don’t love your product for example, chances are you won’t do the deliberate practice it takes to learn how to talk about it so that you get good at it.

If you don’t love SOMETHING about your network marketing business enough to spend the time to learn to do it well, your chances of succeeding are slim to none.

So ask yourself, what do you LOVE MADLY about what you’re doing? Is it making a difference in someone’s life? Is it what the income can buy?

Whatever turns you on, will keep you going.

And if it’s nothing special, perhaps this business really isn’t the best thing for you to be doing. Why NOT love what you do? People can tell if you don’t.

One thing’s for sure in our business: The promise of income is NOT enough. Not for the 95% who drop out, that is.

So what else is there that you love enough or are challenged by enough, to keep you practicing deliberately and systematically, like everyone has ever done who excels in something?

When Success Shines Through Failure In American Idol

There were many memorable moments during the American Idol 2006 series, but for me one of the most memorable, and significant, came with the announcement of Taylor Hicks as the winner. I was delighted for him. He has been an inspirational entertainer all the way through the American Idol series, never flirting with the exit door (despite Simon Cowell’s attempts to shove him there), and with a unique ability to take just about any song, turn it into his own, and bring the audience to its feet. Taylor Hicks is…well, Taylor Hicks; never afraid to do his own thing and entertain the audience. Even if Simon Cowell wrote a funeral dirge, Taylor Hicks could turn it into something special with his unique character, and have the house rocking.

Taylor Hicks being announced as the winner was, of course, the peak of the series; it was what all the contestants had been aiming for since the auditions. However, for me there was something very special about that moment, that some may not have been so aware of: the reaction of Katherine McPhee. Her reaction was one of genuine delight for Taylor’s success. There were no artificial congratulations, no tears of disappointment, no sombre face because she had lost the final; just magnanimous delight for Taylor Hicks being voted American Idol 2006.

Katherine McPhee is a born star, and she will have a good singing career, a dream come true for her. Yet, despite her stunning beauty and exceptional singing talent, she remained modest even at the pinnacle of the show. In her own failure to win the contest, she simultaneously recognised with magnanimity the success of Taylor Hicks, and glowed in her own success of getting that far herself. She did not exude one iota of failure in her demeanour as the announcement was made. If anything, she epitomised success.

Seeing Katherine McPhee at that moment reminded me of how intermingled success and failure are. Even the same achievement can be viewed by one person as a success, and another as failure. No doubt there are some mean spirited people who will dismiss Katherine with a simple “oh, she was beaten, she failed.” But anyone who genuinely respects achievement of any type would appreciate what she has done to get as far as she has, and in such style.

The parents of Katherine McPhee must be very proud of what their daughter can do, has done, and will do in the future. But they should also be very proud of themselves for bringing up such a delightful young woman, who can take her moment of disappointment and turn it into a celebration of success, both for her and her conqueror, Taylor Hicks.

Barry Manilow Singer And Songwriter Extraordinaire Returns To The Stage

Early Life

Barry Alan Pincus was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 17, 1943. His father was of Russian and Jewish descent, and his mother was Irish. His parents split up when Barry was only two, and he was raised by his mother and maternal grandparents. He was introduced to music when he was seven, when he began to learn the piano and accordion.

Prior to his Bar Mitzvah at age 13, Barry began to sing. It was also at this time that he changed his name to match that of his mother’s maiden name – Manilow. In several ways, 1956 was the year Barry Manilow was “born”.

Budding Career

He continued singing through high school, and upon graduation, he was accepted to the prestigious Julliard School of Music. He paid his tuition by working in the CBS mail room. This proved to be a fortuitous school-time job. Manilow advanced at CBS, and wound up serving as the musical director for the CBS show Callback.

For the next few years, Manilow made his way by writing and performing advertising jingles, including the now-famous song for State Farm Insurance. His work got him noticed, and in 1971 he was hired by Bette Midler as her pianist and music director. He accompanied her on several bath house performances in New York City before Midler herself gained fame and fortune. His work with Midler helped her rise to the top, and as a result, Manilow landed his first record deal in 1973.

Potential Reached

Although Manilow’s first album, Barry Manilow, was not a huge success, his follow-up, Barry Manilow II, contained what became his first smash hit, the single, Mandy, which climbed to number one in both the US and UK. From there, an incredible run of commercial success ensued. Manilow’s next six albums all reached the Top 10 on the US Album charts, and some of the singles he produced during this time have remained popular to this day, including I Write The Songs in 1975 and Looks Like We Made It in 1977.

In all, Manilow has released over 30 albums, and 13 of them have risen to number one on the US Album charts, which is an unbelievable rate of success. Manilow’s style has transformed over the years as well. His early works were almost exclusively love songs and ballads. However, in the early 1980’s, Manilow began to focus more on smooth jazz and worked with such legends of the genre as Mel Torme and Sarah Vaughan.

Overall, though, Manilow is best known for his romantic singing and sometimes crooning ways on stage, and his shows have been sold out in nearly every venue for decades. His fans number in the millions and his act is imitated by many.

Manilow has won two Grammy Awards during his career for his singing performances, and in 2002, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone Magazine called him the best performer of his generation. His charitable works are too numerous to list in one volume.

Generally, there are many reasons to take in a Barry Manilow show. We’ve listed a few, but a trip to Las Vegas would be well worth your time to see one of the true icons of musical performance.

Haunted Houses Dead Tenants And A Big Tummy Ache

World renown psychic and author Jane Doherty has found herself in a very prominent position on her new reality TV show called “Dead Tenants”, which is hosted by The Learning Channel. I say it’s a prominent position because of the phenomena that separates Jane’s psychic abilities from those of other psychics.

Whenever there are ghosts around Jane, she has an amazing physical reaction to them and handling it is no small feat either. The reaction Jane has is that her stomach area actually enlarges by as much as six inches around within seconds. And, Jane tells us that it’s extremely painful to her when this happens. If you watch Jane while this stomach expansion is happening, you’re going to hear her moaning and see her wincing … and trust me, it’s not dramatics … the woman’s in definite pain.

With regards to her expanding tummy, Jane says, “It feels like a contraction when a woman is in labor, but it doesn’t ever release me until the spirit leaves. Instead, the stomach expands as if I was nine months pregnant.” Jane actually describes it as very intense muscle cramps, where her stomach is physically gripped by the ghost, and if you watch, the belly will actually lift up. Jane continues, “Often I can tell by the grip whether it is a female, male or child spirit. It first happened to me in 1990, when I investigated my first haunted house with a researcher.”

The belly area is associated with the third charka located at the solar plexus, which is the area that dominates the gifts of telepathy, clairvoyance, clairsentience and an awareness of astral entities. It’s interesting that historically the belly area is associated with body’s core of energy sometimes called the “Chi Point” or the “Hara”, both of which translate literally to mean belly. It’s also interesting that historically, psychics felt their gift came from their gut … called “reading with the pit of the stomach” … where today, most psychics describe their gift coming from their third eye charka, between the eyes and centered in the middle of the forehead. With Jane Doherty, it seems to make good sense that the physical phenomena of Jane Doherty’s expanded stomach would be directly related to her psychic gift.

Jane’s devout belief in the power of God comes through in all that she does because she feels strongly that her psychic abilities are a God-given talent. Using her psychic abilities allows Jane to bring comfort to people whose hearts are hurting, and hope to those who need it most. And, that’s her personal goal on Dead Tenants whose families are in desperate need of help and knowledge to deal with their home’s ghosts.

The Dead Tenants TV show follows the journeys of the Preternatural Research Society (PRS)
